HELLO and welcome to the website of John Evans, the stand up comedian. Not the John Evans from England who holds the world record for most jokes told in one hour. And not the farmer John Evans who grows giant fruit competitively. And not the John Evans who plays carnivals and state fairs balancing enormous objects on his head. It IS John Evans, the stand up comic from Los Angeles whose animated style and smart material make him one of the most original comedians working today.
John Evans started doing stand-up in 1996 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with an Andy Rooney impression and a dream. A few years later, John dropped the Andy Rooney impression and landed a spot at the Montreal Comedy Festival "New Faces" show. 2007 proved to be a breakout year for John, with appearances on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham". In 2008, John was again featured on "Last Comic Standing", this time making it to the Las Vegas semi-finals. Today, John is a regular on the syndicated Bob and Tom radio show, and headlines comedy clubs all over the country. He performs regularly at the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California, and has opened for such comedy legends as George Carlin, Mitch Hedberg, Lewis Black, Dave Chapelle, and Gary Shandling.
Me with Paul F. Tompkins and Bob Odenkirk, from the greatest television program of all time, Mr. Show. (Taken after Doug Benson's Comedy Interrupted show at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.)
Me with Sarah Silverman on the set of "The Sarah Silverman Program", during a taping of an episode for the upcoming 2009 season. She was so nice and so funny and so hot that I'm just now getting over the experience.
